Taufiq + Fatima // Surprise Proposal at Rosewood Estates & Megalomaniac Winery - Beamsville

Proposals will forever be my favourite. There’s so many emotions packed into one moment, it’s almost like an adrenaline rush. This day, was nothing short of incredible.

Taufiq reached out to me a few weeks before he planned on popping the question to his beautiful girlfriend Fatima. Many phone calls later, we planned the perfect day to surprise her. However, everything we had planned outdoors took a bit of a different direction when we woke up to a suuuuper gloomy rainy day. I asked if he still wanted to proceed, or wait for some better weather. His response? “I can’t wait any longer to marry this girl, let’s do it today, rain or shine.” … and BOY - am I ever glad we did.

The rain held off long enough to squeeze the proposal in at Rosewood Estates Winery in Beamsville. Not only did the rain hold off, but the fog in the background was like something out of a movie. Absolutely breathtaking and set the tone. You know I love my moody edits, and the fog was the PERFECT compliment to that. See for yourself below, no photoshop here!

The plan started when he surprised her back home with a party bus limo filled with all their closest friends/family for her birthday. Taufiq told Fatima that he planned a wine tour for her, and the limo was taking them to a few spots. I’m sure that was enough to get her excited, even just for the birthday surprise. Little did she know, I was waiting at the winery for Taufiq to arrive and he was to sneak away from the group when they got there. I had texted him photos of where I was standing, and directed him where to take her so I could photograph on the perfect angle (and get that fog… ouuuff!). He told Fatima he wanted to go for a little walk and they met us near the pond at Rosewood. Unbeknownst to her, there I was, ready to capture everything as it unfolded. The rest is history.

Once the proposal ended, they hopped back in the limo and headed off to Megalomaniac Winery down the road. They had a private room upstairs to celebrate with the group, and I think they hit a few more wineries afterwards too. I managed to tag along to Megalomaniac and snag a few photos of that experience too.

All in all, this was such an incredible moment to be a part of, and it’s an honour to have been chosen to document these moments. Sometimes, when you wake up to gloomy weather, it turns out to be better than you even expected.
